Towards the end of their latest book – Futuro Proximo – Antonella Spotti and Andrea Di Terlizzi offer us a suggestive glimpse of a possible future of our planet. What they outline is in some ways familiar to me, having often imagined the future of our humanity in a similar way (provided, of course, we will be able to overcome the “growth crises” that still await us).
It’s a vision which in my opinion is important to make known, because in one fundamental aspect it differs from that of many futurologists and science fiction writers, however speculative their anticipations may be. To explain what I mean, I would like to take as an example the successful Star Trek TV series, created by the visionary Gene Roddenberry.

As many perhaps know, the classic series, from 1966, tells of the adventures of the crew of the starship Enterprise, of the Federation of united planets, whose purpose was to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before. All subsequent series then developed this particular science-fiction universe, which precisely tell of a multi-planetary civilization, scientifically and technologically very advanced. Now, undoubtedly, the Star Trek writers have always shown considerable courage in often proposing leading-edge reflections, on themes of different nature, ethical, racial, political, sexual… breaking various taboos.
And of course, the issue of religion has also been addressed.
What has always struck me, however, is that with regard to the “life after death” issue, the futurist universe of Star Trek, despite all the inventiveness of its writers, has remained paradoxically at the same level of advancement of our contemporary terrestrial world. In the sense that nothing definitive was ever discovered, in all those years, about the different “planes of manifestation of consciousness,” neither by the earthlings nor by the various more advanced civilizations with which they came into contact.

In short, it is a future where in no corner of the known universe spiritual research seems to have made progress. From a young age, this dissonance between outer and inner research in science fiction narrative has always amazed me. This is why the glimpse that Antonella and Andrea offer us about the near future, in their latest book, is so important: because theirs is a different vision, we could say an integral one, of the advancement of knowledge on our planet. It is the vision of a possibility that is very close to my heart and that I hope will spread as much as possible. That’s why I thought of translating into English the following excerpt from their book, waiting for their texts to also become available in the language of Shakespeare, in a near future.

Earth 2020

Translation of an excerpt (pp. 241-251) from the book “Futuro Proximo. Genesi dell’umanità futura” [Near Future. Genesis of the future humanity], by Antonella Spotti and Andrea Di Terlizzi, Inner Innovation Project, Cremona 2020. (Warning: the person who translated the text is not a native English speaker. Therefore, possible inaccuracies are to be attributed to the translator, not to the authors of the original text).

Now imagine, with a flight of fantasy, to move two thousand years ahead.
We are in 4030.
Let’s imagine it this way: science has made great strides. We have come into contact with extraterrestrial civilizations, with whom we have occasional and benevolent relationships. It is a fact known to all. No mystery.
Wars have become a memory. The entire population of the planet has to eat and dress, even if there are still considerable differences in lifestyles and some differences in standard of living.
Medicine has reached a level that allows a significant reduction of diseases that existed in the past and allows not only a condition of stable health (apart from accidents), but also an excellent condition of mental and physical well-being. Nutritional studies and knowledge about prevention have finally taken over economic interests.
Racial differences, understood as discrimination, have disappeared from the planet, as have the abuse of women and children. Work, generally speaking, is no longer a kind of slavery on which people depend, but a higher means of expressing their skills in the service of society.

All this allows a much better quality of life but, above all, an unprecedented scientific discovery has been made: for some centuries it has been proven that life subsists to the death of the body. This fact completely overturned the entire human population’s way of living and perceiving existence.
Religions, as they were once known, have practically disappeared. Large religious institutions that deal with ethics and education remain, but the ancient concept of “faith” has been replaced by the concrete knowledge of the existence of parallel planes to the material one and methods have been studied to expand brain functions and allow people to establish a certain degree of empathic and telepathic “contact” with what they once called “afterlife.”

Scientific advancement and contact with civilizations foreign to our planet have made it known that for millions of years extremely advanced knowledge existed on the planet, for spiritual and intellectual development. The existence of methods to expand consciousness and perceive the reality that extends beyond visible matter is now in the public domain.
Even physics has been able to solve those obscure equations that in the past did not allow to demonstrate the existence of boundless universes, beyond the material one.
Death has become a serenely accepted phenomenon, as previously could have been the simple passage from childhood to adolescence, from adolescence to adulthood and from the latter to old age. All the discoveries made, through scientific and spiritual methods, have shown, beyond any possible doubt, that the ending of physical life is replaced by a period of existence in other dimensions, more rarefied but somewhat similar to the earthly one and which subsequently, according to the qualities of each one, there is a going back to matter again (up to an evolutionary achievement that allows the continuation of one’s advancement in higher dimensions).

In 4030, we observe a sweet and touching phenomenon: the acquired knowledge reduces not only the fear of dying but also the pain of loss. On the verge of death, people exchange the promise of seeing each other again, aware that this will lead to a real meeting, in other dimensions and again on Earth.
Ethics and morals also undergo a change. In the past people avoided criminal behavior in order not to incur punitive sanctions; now many human attitudes have disappeared, or reduced to a minimum, because ordinary people are aware that every action and thought affects the postmortem experience and also the quality of the returning to the planet. The feeling of respect and benevolence for all life has become part of the common way of thinking and relating to the world.

Technologies have been developed that affect the brain and consciousness, which, combined with the methods of Meditation now widespread for centuries, allow those who are about to leave the planet to experience the transition consciously. An extraordinary journey awaited with serene curiosity.
In 4030, our world has changed profoundly. Nobody wonders anymore if life exists on other planets. Nobody wonders anymore if God exists.
There is a widespread view that – what they once called God – is probably something too far from the however evolved human mind, to be understood through the intellect. However, everyone knows that the entire universe is governed by “something” intelligent and that there are more ancient and evolved species that know much more than we do about everything related to the origins and evolution.
Generally speaking, the fact that a single life is only a moment in a very long process, which tends towards an evolution of the individual and collective consciousness, has become part of the common mentality.

The separation between science and spirituality no longer exists. Even less educated people have now assimilated the idea that everything is formed of a single Energy, which vibrates at different frequencies, revealing different worlds and substances.
Science and religion are less meaningful terms than in the distant past. In 4030, only the concept of Knowledge exists. A cognitive progress which concerns the discoveries and studies about dense matter, as well as about the individual consciousness, recognized as that which moves on the wings of time using different vehicles of manifestations, of dense matter or of impalpable substance.
In schools, disciplines such as Yoga and Meditation are regularly taught, because it has long been discovered that they came from the “future” and not from the past, as was once believed. Contacts with other civilizations have clearly defined that the millions of years old inner sciences originated from the knowledge of races far more advanced than the human one, representative of a future still far away even for men and women of 4030.

Now let’s take a step back and return to our era. Shared ethics is an unknown phenomenon. Of course, we talk about it, but the first cries of a Universal Moral are governed more by the fear of divine or human punishment than by the awareness of being all part of a single big Family.
The fear of death and the attachment to material life are so strong that people no longer accept even old age. They undergo all forms of surgery and new experiments, in order to keep the young appearance of a “dress” which, out of ignorance, they confuse with themselves.
Mind and consciousness are abstract and not very relevant concepts. Almost exclusively, only what you can see and touch matters. Science deals exclusively with the material side of the universe. It knows no others, so much so that the conflict between spirituality and scientific mentality is still ongoing.
Politics and economics are not at the service of humanity. They cannot be, because in this era nothing is known yet of what humanity is, of what it is part of, of global evolution, of the existence of other lives, of extra-planetary influences.
Most humans are still prey to aggressive instincts, fears and selfishness. The instruments coming from the “future,” those provided in ancient times by extra-planetary civilizations, are looked at as toys. The first studies on the real effects of Yoga and Meditation are just starting. People still cannot distinguish between Mind and thought, between emotions and thought, between energy and matter.
They slaughter animals by the millions for scientific experiments, for the pleasure of killing, to eat meat in excess that lead them to become sick, or to turn them into clowns to be shown at their fairs.

Only a few, within some culture, remember the ancient teachings about life after the death of the body, on continuous reincarnation, on the continuity of relationship with those who loved each other, which never ceases. The transition from earthly life to life on other planes is not celebrated with sweetness and joy, but with gloom and terror. People do not say “see you soon,” but a sad goodbye.
The word “God” is the subject of sterile debates. There is discussion about the existence or nonexistence of something of which nothing has yet been understood. Philosophies and traditions from the past, which could shed light on such important topics, are the subject of exclusive studies for a few intellectuals, or transformed into childish fashions to be followed to overcome boredom and fear, driven by some instinctive and dark omen of truth.

This is the current world, leaving aside the wars, the psychological and physical violence, the rampant greed and selfishness, the dark influences that like a mantle drop over a presumptuous humanity, totally ignorant on what concerns the real nature of Life.
Now let’s try to ask ourselves: In which of the two worlds would we like to live? In the current one, or in the hypothetical 4030?
Of course, since we are just at the dawn of a New Era, someone will be tempted to reply: “The future you have described is pure fantasy, because there is neither reincarnation, nor other universes, nor more evolved civilizations with which to enter into contact.
Ah… let’s not forget… Yoga is only for the body and Meditation is only to overcome stress. What else could they be useful for?”
This is the moment when one can switch from common and repetitive thinking to “transversal thinking,” remembering that great discoveries do not happen by recycling what is common but by going adventurously towards the new. The real watershed is this.
The whole culture and morals of an era like the Middle Ages, and therefore the well-being or malaise of the people of that era, was due to how they interpreted the whole world. The obscurantist visions of that period, only mitigated by the presence of great figures (often in the darkest periods the brightest minds emerge), influenced everyone’s life and it was almost impossible to escape those mental frames.

Today is no different. In a world where everything we have described about a hypothetical future is non-existent, every aspect of life, from politics to economics, from science to morality, is inevitably the result of knowledge or ignorance that are global.
Spirituality, philosophy, science, politics, economics are realities that move on different levels, each of which deals with an aspect of human life, but they are interconnected by an overall vision, which reflects the morality or immorality of an era, as well as the ignorance or knowledge related to the nature of reality.

If what we have described of the year 4030 was deemed probable (or possible), the reason why we have so many insecurities, sufferings and fears today would become more evident.
In reality, that futuristic vision is not so much science-fiction but… a presumable and future development of what has already been known for millennia.
The ethical visions and inner technologies that can allow for individual growth of awareness have existed for a long time. From a collective point of view, they are concealed, also for the many reasons described in this book and in the text “La vera matrix” [The true matrix], but had always been present almost everywhere. Collectively, the human species has not yet reached a degree of consciousness like that hypothesized for a distant future but, individually, things are very different. Every single person can access – today – a portion of tomorrow.

In the Christian prayer “Our Father” this sentence appears: “Give us this day our daily bread.” Although little known, if not to some scholar, this sentence is open to interesting considerations. First, the common translation is not accepted by all. In reality, in its Greek version, the phrase emòn ton epioùson is difficult to interpret. Nobody has been able to decipher with certainty “ton epioùson,” which appears only in one version and in an ancient papyrus.
It also started – as it should be – a discussion regarding the fact that this part of Our Father probably does not refer to earthly food and body sustenance.
In the Syriac version of the prayer, the word “daily” does not exist and is replaced by “perpetual,” indicating something that is not limited to the present moment and that could more probably refer to a “transubstantial food” (or, outside the Christian metaphor, to a transcendental food, that is, suitable for the soul, for the spiritual development of the individual). The Sahidic version (probably the most correct) translates the term as “what will come” and the sentence becomes in this way: “Give us this day our food of tomorrow”.

Understanding the meaning of such an enigmatic sentence is simpler if we consider the presumed historical and spiritual reality of the figure of Jesus (more than the doctrinal and theological one that was formed later): an Initiate who represented a continuity between the ancient knowledge of the planet and the transition to a new Era (Piscean Age).
In the awareness of a possible human future, in a long and arduous evolutionary path and in the knowledge of the Mysteries and the wisdom that can ferry those who are ready beyond the barriers of current evolution, “give us this day our bread of tomorrow” takes on a different relevance.
The humanity of 4030 can be partially innerly realized by the individual who, opening herself/himself to new visions and higher aspirations, becomes capable of realizing that inner passage described in all the mystery traditions, in which the existence of a knowledge brought to Earth from ancient times, to provide useful tools for an individual evolutionary leap, has always been accepted.

Meditation is the most direct way to get a taste of our future. Is it certain that through Meditation we will grasp the truth of things? no! What is certain in life? Is it certain that we will still be alive in five years? no! Is it certain that tomorrow we will find the job we want? no! Is it certain that the person we love will stay with us for all life? no!
What exists with certainty? Birth and death. All the rest has no certainty and those who believe otherwise are only trying to overcome the fear of tomorrow. There is only one certainty: how we choose to live and die. This depends solely on us. On us depends the exclusive desire to open ourselves to new knowledge and experiences, in search of a wider breath of Life.

Can thought, the ordinary mind, give us tomorrow’s food? It is unlikely, very unlikely. It can be helpful, that’s for sure. It can do so by leading us to the understanding of the fact that thought arises from experience and the experience we had (individual or collective) represents the past. It can do so by allowing us to understand why we absolutely need tools that put us in contact with “more” in ourselves.

EARTH 4030

In quello attuale, oppure nell’ipotetico 4030?
A cos’altro potrebbero servire?”.

È sicuro che fra cinque anni saremo ancora in vita? no!
